In Print!

Austin woke up at his usual 5:30am, so he and I went out to get the paper. When we opened it, we saw Rob’s picture on the front page of the Sports section! We ran upstairs to Robbo’s room, and Austin woke him up with the paper in hand… needless to say, it was a fun, exciting morning in the DeSisto household!

Photo Shoot and Interview

Today was great! We met the photographer and the sportswriter at Rob's middle school track just after lunch. Both were very cool guys and Rob enjoyed the whole experience! Here are a couple of pictures from the day...

USATF-New England Junior Olympic Championships

Rob won again today! He competed in the New England Junior Olympic Championships at Fitchburg State College, and improved his personal best time with a 5:04.80. He continues to impress those who are both racing and watching!

Here is a picture of Austin, playing school buses under our tent and waiting (actually very patiently!) for the race to start.

Here is Rob, just after the race:

And of course the becoming-a-tradition picture of the three guys!

Next up is the AAU Club Championships at Disney's Wide World of Sports on July 3rd. Should he finish in the top 4, he will advance to the AAU Junior Olympic Games in Detroit at the end of July... Good luck, Robbo!!

AAU New England District Championship

Rob ran the 1500M today in the AAU District Championship. The meet was held at Thayer Academy in Braintree, MA. He won with a time of 5:08, setting (and shattering!) the previously-held record for his age group (5:29). Way to go, Robbo!!

He qualified to advance to the AAU Region 1 Championships in New Haven, CT on June 29th. But he and some of his friends are playing in a flag football tournament that day. He decided to play flag football instead. Of course, the fact that the tournament is at Gillette Stadium (the Patriots field) and they are playing on the same field as Tom Brady plays on, probably influenced his decision!

Next up: the USATF New England Association Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships next weekend in Fitchburg, MA.

Here is a picture of all three boys after the meet... Happy Father's Day, Dad!
